While the technology continues to progress, there are quite a lot of cheap laptops available in the market for our wireless needs. There are 2 ways to buy a cheap laptop:used or refurbished. These are great bargain for those who don't want to pay a lot on hi-tech models. There are some things that you should consider when looking at cheap laptops that will keep you from buying something that will not serve you well.

Refurbished Laptop VS. Used Laptop

Refurbished laptops mean they have been used for once to 3 months but returned to the store for some reason. They will then need to resell it as refurbished not as new. If necessary it is repaired to factory specifications. This is a purchase for a cheap laptop because they usually have warranty with it. A used computer, on the other hand, is offered "as is" and has not been repaired to any specifications unless the seller indicates that it has.

Memory Needs

When you look for a cheap laptop, try to identify your laptop needs. Are a student who needs basic word processing? Then it may not be necessary for you look at cheap laptops that have a great deal of memory. There are cheap laptops with a huge memory but they will be fairly more expensive. A lot of laptops today have a minimum of 128mb to be able to run most programs.

Upgradeable?

Older laptops are more difficult to upgrade than the new ones. If you do more research, then you may be able to find newer computers at a cheaper price. You will need to ask professional help and opinion for the laptop you are interested in so that you will know if there are still compatible parts.

Check the Price

Laptops are generally more expensive than desktops with the only convenience of being able to bring it wherever you go. To find out if the price you are being offered for cheap laptops is fair, you can check online and see how much they are selling for on other sites and dealers. You must remember that a brand new laptop that has a lower feature may not be better compared to a refurbished laptop with better features of the same price.
